Page Size

The file size should be larger than the final printed page size (or "trim" size). E.g: If your page size is 8.5x11inches, your document should be at least 8.75x11.25inches to accommodate the bleed area. Do not make your document excessively bigger than your file. Just enough so you have a decent sized bleed area. A surprising number of files that are submitted are the exact size of the trim size. This causes delays as we have to ask the client to fix their files.

Inside Pages

Inside text pages should be in single page layouts. We prefer that you put all pages in one art file to prevent confusion of page order and to help us receive your files faster.

Covers

Cover pages are a total of 4 pages. An outside front cover, outside back cover, inside front cover, and inside back cover.
-       If the binding choice is saddle-stitching: You do not need to worry about the layout of the cover. Just put them in your file as single pages.

-       If the binding choice is Perfect binding: To calculate the spine size for perfect bound publications, you will need to calculate the weight of the paper stock multiplied by the number of pages in the publication.
When making the layout for perfect bound publications, you will need to include your spine with your covers. For example, an 8.5” x 11inch document with a 0.375inch spine should have a width of 17.375inches (8.5” x 2 0.375”) and a height of 11inches. And if you add bleed for safe trimming, the overall layout size should have at least a width of 17.62inches (17.375 0.25 ) and a height of 11.25inches

The image on the first page-from left to right-will include the Outside Back Cover (OBC), followed by the spine, followed by the Outside Front Cover (OFC). The image on the second page will include the Inside Front Cover (IFC), followed by the spine, followed by the Inside back Cover (IBC). The inside spine should be left completely blank. If there is a printed image on the inside spine, the glue used to bind the publication will not properly adhere to the paper and the pages will eventually loosen and fall out. A blank inside spine allows the glue to better adhere to the paper.

EDITING SERVICES

A book is simply more than the sum of its parts. It is its own entity. To fashion a great book one must make sure all of the individual elements work together in a synergy of words and emotions, painting pictures and evoking senses in order to put the reader right into the story. To accomplish this, a writer must first create, then rewrite, then revise. And nothing in the world helps a writer do that better than working with a developmental editor — one who knows the pitfalls and problems and can help writers navigate around them. With our Simple Editing and Editing Plus Packages, we will provide editing services focused on strengthening both the content and technical elements of your manuscript.

Advanced Editing

The very best editors can not only pinpoint the problems in all areas but most importantly, be able to show you how to fix those problems. No writer wants an editor to rewrite his or her book; that’s not an editor’s job. An editor’s job is to help a writer to fashion the very best book his or hers can be. To bring out the gem from under whatever is burying its shine. To make sure the arc of the story contains all of the elements that bring forth a great read. An editor’s real job is to teach the elements of great fiction and nonfiction, while doing all of the above. And it takes a very fine touch to be able to accomplish this while maintaining the integrity of the writer’s own voice. That’s what makes for great editing for your book.

With our Advanced Editing package, we will provide multiple rounds of editing. The first two rounds will focus on strengthening the content of your manuscript: structure, plot flow, characterization, tone. While the third round will fine-tune the technical elements such as grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Also, the third round of editing, a professional proofreader will provide a line edit that corrects typos and ensures consistency.

Simply upload your manuscript in Microsoft word. The editors will review your manuscript using the Microsoft Word.
